‘seeing’ and can’t see; hearing; listen unto someone else, anyone BUT God and his Word proceeds out of his mouth.
1. To “remember” this, [have or be able to bring to one's mind someone or something from the past] - So, the people in Sardis, claim his name, but God sees their works. They “live” dead. So, they are NOT living by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God, but just by dead works, work at things he never said for them to do.

It has a way like the military people stand “watches” - they are “vigilant” - it’s a “practice” [you actually use or apply the Word of God], and it strengthens that which remains, which, Sardis had his name, but didn’t have any of the Word of God that came with his name anymore.
So, the Church is Sardis isn’t “doing” anything. Dead. Not abiding. Just has a name, but are not doing anything he says; and they are not looking for him coming. Like he told EVERYBODY to above in Matthew 24:36. They’re not looking for him anymore. Looking “how” they’re going to pay the mortgage this month, or how they're going to reduce the electric bill. Looking how they’re going to get Suzie into College next year, when there isn’t any money for it. The cares and pleasures of this life and snuck in, and they no longer abide in the Word of God.

To ‘bring to one’s mind something or someone from the past which is the Word of God. To live by every word that proceeds out of his mouth. That’s the “works of God,” that, we took, today, live by every word proceeds out of his mouth, just like those in Sardis.

It’s INCOMPLETE without you look unto him. You do, it’s a work that he wants that’s COMPLETE. And? All “Complete” in the dictionary means is, you don’t have to add to, or take away anything from it. It’s Perfect. Because he makes up the lack. He’s God.

So, the first thing God asks those in Sardis that have his name is to remember what they already received and heard, which was the Word of God, just like he says to EVERYBODY, to the very ends of the earth to: “LOOK UNTO ME, AND BE YE SAVED ALL THE ENDS OF THE EARTH: FOR I AM GOD, THERE IS NONE ELSE.” - God. (Isaiah 45:22).

Heaven and earth shall pass away but God’s Word shall never pass away, and, he decreed Sardis was to live by every word proceeds out of his mouth, just like he decreed you live the same way.
